I really love photography and photo editing. But I’m not sure what to major in or what careers that include both of them. I’ve read that being a Graphic Designer includes using Photoshop but I didn’t see if they did any photography or not. Is there any well-paying careers that mainly include photography and photo editing?

Right now, there aren’t many jobs available in any field. So, all things being equal, major in something your heart would choose, something you would truly enjoy doing. After all the smoke clears, preferably in sync with your graduation, everything will be a marketable skill. If it’s photography you’re interested in, pursue it, but realize that a "professional photographer" in modern times is a businessperson first and foremost, then an artist.

My strongest advice, just to eliminate question marks for your future financial security, is to double-major in either a) photography/graphic arts and business, or b) two subjects which are considerably, but not totally, different from one another…

Any Degrees that deal with Photography?

You can do certificate and Diploma courses in Photography. It depends on your interest, what kind of photography you like for example: Fashion, Nature, Still, Motion….etc. and you can choose accordingly.

i’m interested in some photography schools but i’m not sure if it’s a good choice the way the economy is…i’m thinking it is what with all the media in society. i’m just not sure…so if u have any info or links that can help, it would be much appericiated! thanks ^_^

Well, if you love photography, go for it. You should do something you love, not something for money.
You could always get a second job if photography cannot fulfill the money you need.
If you really want to make a living out of photography, you can advertise with a website, you can ask your friends and family if they want shots of a special event, (i.e, wedding, birthday, etc.) and get paid, you can print flyers and post them around town with your number and stuff on them. It’s not going to just come to you- you have to work for it.
