Hi Everyone, I am starting a photography business that will help people build digital scrapbooks/storybooks and canvases from their digital photos. My website has photo templates and embellishments to compliment their photos and make it easy to transform their pictures into a pieces of art. Where I’m stuck tho is I can’t think of anything catchy or meaningful to use as my business name. I’d need it for an internet domain name and blog so it can’t be anything that’s already taken. My initial thoughts were something like Picture Perfect Designs or anything that is like a play on words having something to do with pictures or photography. Just curiously what other careers involve Photography besides just photography. Besides weddings and special occasions.
Are there any jobs that you can just be a photographer at and be steady?

You can work at one of those Walmart portrait studios, but I am guessing that is not what you had in mind.

When I used to get this question, I would suggest being the art director for a major magazine. You don’t take photos, but you get to work with photos all day. However, at the rate at which print magazines are going out of business, I don’t think that will be a valid career path for too much longer.

My Hobby Is Photography. I would like to start my own Digital Photographic Business to make an income. From picture taking to software, to editing and attend seminaries. I also want to start my own Digital Photography Training school. Where do I start?

Well, what type of photography do you want to do?

Fashion, weddings, family portraits, stock photography, corporate shots, real-estate … the list goes on and on.

First things first. Sit down and do a proper business plan.

1- Objectives
2- Start-up Summary / Requierments
3- Product / Service offering
4- Market Analysis
5- Strategy
6- Financial Plan

You need to figure out what you are trying to achieve, what you need to start, what you’ll be offering, what the competition and demand in your area is like, how you’ll market yourself and how you’ll manage not to go bankrupt.

Now you seem to have spread yourself out … you want to do photography, training, speaking at public events … focus on one thing as your primary service offering and then see if you can add other things afterwards … if you don’t have enough focus, you’ll fail at everything.

For example, I focus on weddings and tentively branch out to maternity and corporate shots … my next addition will be stock but I’m in no hurry. My main focus is Weddings for now.
