Creating a collage for a digital photography course?

August 4th, 2011 by admin

I just received a project for my digital photography class which is to create a collage using as many photos as possible. The collage is supposed to be of something which interests me. I am a business student and I am taking this class as an elective. Business/accounting/finance are my most prominent interests? Any ideas on what sort of pictures I should include?

Considering business/accounting/finance are your most prominent interests, I do think that you can choose some pictures linking to those field, like the successful businessman all over the world, some famous accountants you may interest, or people have a great influence worldwide. Of course, you should classify them in different files to make them clearly.
To make the photos more interesting and attractive you can use a collage to customize your photos. You can have a try the Collage Maker, which is free on the app store. You can easy to make beautiful collages within a few seconds. If you are a Mac user, you can go to the App Store to install it for free.

Hope it is useful and helpful to you.

Can I start a photography business with a point and click digital camera?

August 2nd, 2011 by admin

I’m a teenager and I’m very confident in my skills. I don’t need to worry about the quality of my photography. People love it.
Now I just want to make a small business out of it, part-time. I’ve already researched what to do in the business, although, I don’t have a lot of money to spare for it right away.
My main question is: Can I start my business just having my Kodak Easyshare digital camera? It’s brand new, and it takes amazing pictures. I’m just worried about people thinking I’m a huge amateur for not having a big expensive Nikon or Canon camera. I can’t afford one right now, though if my business takes off, I’ll be able to buy it later.
What is your advice for me?
(Help from a real photography would be great!!)
photographer*
I don’t plan on going pro at all right now, especially since I’m only a teenager. I’d just like to make a few extra bucks taking beautiful pictures xD

Off course you can, I mean you are confident, your "camera" takes amazing pictures and people love your work.

Go for it – you will end up rich and famous.

Digital photography and a blacklight?

June 23rd, 2011 by admin

I found some gloves with strips of led-lights in them. Naturally, I really want to do some experimenting with them and my camera, in a studio set up, leaving the shutter open for long period of time. They light up all kinds of crazy colors, and a blacklight only enhances them. I am wondering though, what effect (if any) will a blacklight have on a image produced using a dslr? Can the camera actually pick up the enhanced effects of the blacklight, or will it be a futile venture? Anyone ever experimented with this before? Any tips? I’m not doing this for any other reason than I love photography and it seems like a fun thing to do I’ve never tried before. If it doesn’t work out, nothing lost nothing gained.
P.S. Since I will be behind the camera, I have a friend who will wave around her hands with the lit up globes on to get the effects. If a blacklight does anything at all with digital phtography, might it also be wise for her to wear some clothing that lights up under blacklights? Also, I haven’t gotten rid of my 35mm, and would be just as interested if it would have any effect on traditional b&w and color film?
I’m trying to find any tips others who have tried this may have.

With UV you’ll need a slower exposure. I used two lights, one on each side of my subject, a tripod and a high ISO.http://www.flickr.com/photos/perki88/385138067/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/perki88/385129448/in/photostream

Are there any short careers relating to photography?

June 23rd, 2011 by admin

The thing is that I’m a young mother and I’m looking for a short career and I’m really interested in photography.

there are a lot of short careered photographers…

usually ones that think they can do wedding photography with basic equipment…

they last about 2 months… and end up very stressed… and sometimes get sued by their clients…

Help on photographing hair? Amateur with no photography experience.?

May 7th, 2011 by admin

I’ve no experience in digital photography and my friend has asked me to photo some of her hair styles that she’s doing at a top hair salon. The people I will be photographing will be people off the street which will not be expecting me to photo them and are doing me a favour. I will be doing it with a hand held digital camera inside. What will I do for lighting and composition to get the best results for my friends portfolio? Basic photo tips for photographing hair without studio resources?

Christy’s advice is great! Use her tips and add these 2:

1. shoot from a position a little above the model since you are featuring hair (if you shoot from below the model, you’ll get more face than hair), and

2. if the camera has an optical (not digital) zoom, use it at its max, but make sure to fill the frame with your subject–the longer focal length is more flattering for portraits.
