How Can I Start My Photography Career?

I already own the right camera and even updated my Photoshop to CS4. I’ve been taking pictures for years now, but want to a pursue a career. How can I do this?

I buy photos for marketing purposes through a site called istockphoto.com. You could go to that site and look into selling for them. THat would be "small potatoes" to start – but I’m sure if you called local photographers and ask their advice. i think it really depends on if you want to be a photographer for something like photographing weddings and such, or selling your photos for art/frames, marketing purposes, etc. I think you can make money at all avenues, so it would just depend on what you want to pursue. I think any photographer would be flattered to give you advice on how to start – but in the meantime, maybe look at the requirements at some internet sites, such as the one I mentioned. you could also call your local newspaper and see if maybe they are hiring for a photographer, if that is the type of photography you’re interested in. hope i could help.
