lookling to get into a photography career taking pictures at concerts. Where do i start?

my passion is music and photography. Id like to get into a career doing both. Ive talked to some people at concerts with the press and most of them just kind of fall into it.Is there actually a career doing something like this or is it like a who you know kind of thing?
You need to have a strong portfolio, start with local artist smaller venues ect. so you can build up your portfolio and gain experience. Then present your portfolio to a band manager and hopefully they are impress and in need of some promos.

Concert photographer sounds a lot like "brand new car tester" or "vacation resort tester", etc.
Yes, a tiny number of terribly lucky people do get paid to do just that, but to everyone of them, there are countless thousands of others who would LIKE to be them.
You need to start "at the bottom", so to speak, and work your way up.
Study, practice long and hard, become very VERY good at photography, build up a portfolio and get your name out there.
Try to do whatever gigs you can get your hands on, but don’t expect to just walk into that dream job of yours – it will need a LOT of effort to get there (unless you hit a lucky fluke somewhere).
